Our school canteen is a Healthy Kids Canteen which means that ‘green' foods are readily available and encouraged, ‘amber' food are occasional treats and ‘red' foods are offered infrequently, perhaps once a term in a specialty Meal Deal.
We endeavour to cook and produce most items from our menu on site in our fully equipped kitchen. All bought produce is low fat, salt and sugar.
Lunch time 11.15am to 11.45am
Recess break 1.45pm – 2.15pm
The canteen is currently open for lunch orders Monday - Friday. Lunch orders and payment must be dropped into the canteen before school starts to allow enough time to prepare in time for lunch break. We are also open every afternoon Monday to Friday for recess.
One of the best and probably most fun ways of getting involved in our school community is to volunteer in the canteen!! Our wonderful helpers are parents and grandparents, just like you, wanting to help out and be there for the kids. You'll be surprised at how much more you learn about our school community by hanging out in the canteen and it's also a way to meet new friends and make new contacts. And of course, the kids love seeing their mum, dad, nan or pop behind the counter, ready to serve and assist!!
Lunch shift commences in the morning after you kiss the kiddies farewell for the day. You will be involved in collating lunch orders, basic food preparation and cooking, serving at counter and still be home in time for grown-up lunch time!!
Recess shift commences at 1.30pm and you are done in an hour!
Duties include serving at the window, replenishing stock for the next day, making up our all-year-round popular juice cups and counting small amounts of coins.
We also have our special Meal Deals once a term. We have a regular and very popular Family Pancake Day and our yummy Sausage Sizzle meal deals. In the last few years we have also hosted Crazy Science Hot Dog Day, Churros & Empanada Day and our Pizza Meal Deal.
So, gourmet chefs you do not need to be!!!
Just need basic kitchen abilities, customer service at the counter, a sense of humour is also a must (our clientele are a crackup!!) and enclosed footwear at all times. We are happy to have new helpers at any time – you may be available every week, once a fortnight or once a month!! Please consider being a regular canteen helper.
