Visual Art

Water Lilies

In this artwork we learned how to draw water lilies and lily pads sitting on a pond. We learned about how to draw the petals and how to draw the lily pads from the correct viewing angle. We used pencil to draw the water lilies and the lily pads. Then we used oil pastels to add colour and reflections. The last step was adding water colour paint to the pond.

Art Appreciation: Monet's water lilies are some of the world's most famous paintings. Water lilies are regularly seen in Asian style gardens.

Japanese Tree

This Japanese inspired landscape incorporates the Japanese flag, a teahouse and a curvy, twisted cherry blossom tree.

A silhouette is created when you have a bright light behind an object and all you see is the outline.
