This year as part of our Creative and Performing Arts program we have decided to produce the play The Wizard of Oz. We are hoping to include as many students as possible in this production.
We are encouraging students from Kindergarten to Year 6 to audition for the various roles.
Please be aware that our performance dates are scheduled for Term 4. If a child is successful in being offered a place in this performance it is important that they are available to attend all rehearsals and performances. Some rehearsals may be held ‘out of school hours'.
The audition process will be as follows:
Main cast roles – students will be given a short script to practise and present at the audition. The script will be given to the students a week prior to their audition day. Auditions will be conducted individually rather than in a group setting. Students who wish to be considered for the main roles will be required to participate in the dance and singing auditions.
Dance Group – dance auditions will take place over a number of sessions in Week 7. Students will be asked the day before the auditions to wear their sports uniform. They will be given a brief sequence of steps to follow. Once rehearsal time has concluded students will be required to perform these steps on their own or in a small group.
Choral Group – choral auditions will take place over a number of sessions in Week 7. Students will be given the opportunity to practise the song at home and must also attend all choir rehearsals. Students who do not wish to be considered for main cast roles will only be required to perform as part of a group. Students auditioning for a main cast role will also be required to perform a solo.
It is essential each child understands the commitment required when participating in such a production. If a student is auditioning for more than one role they must attend all auditions and should also be aware that some rehearsals may be held during break time or before/after school hours.
Students can choose to audition for:
- Main cast roles (3-6 students only)
- Dance Group
- Choral Group
